The Joan Samuels Foundation
Joan Samuels is the Founder and Chair of the Joan Samuels Foundation, the nonprofit research foundation that supports the Lakinberg Supreme Court Research Center. The Foundation's mission is to educate, research, advocate, and impact — advancing the rule of law through scholarship, research, and constitutional understanding.
FOUNDATION OVERVIEW
The Joan Samuels Foundation is the nonprofit research and educational foundation that supports the work of the Lakinberg Supreme Court Research Center. Through the Foundation, the LSRC maintains its academic credibility, sustains its research infrastructure, and delivers its public education mission free of commercial constraint. The Foundation provides the institutional partnerships, research depth, and scholarly rigour that distinguish the Center from every other legal commentary platform in the market. Motivated by the principle that constitutional understanding is a public good, the Joan Samuels Foundation supports free academic access, student research fellowships, and the public education programs of the Center.
What We Fund
Foundation Programs
Academic Research
Up to $75,000Deep scholarly analysis of Supreme Court jurisprudence, conducted by the LSRC research team with input from academic partners across U.S. law schools and universities.
Free Academic Access Program
Up to $25,000No-cost access to LSRC research resources for accredited law schools and business schools across the United States. Open to faculty and students.
Student Research Fellowships
Up to $40,000Funded research positions for law students and graduate students engaged in constitutional law and legal scholarship.
Public Education
By applicationThe Lakinberg SCOTUS Research Podcast, blog, and educational series: free, accessible resources for every person who needs to understand how the Supreme Court affects their life.
Constitutional Studies
